J. Douglas Nauman, PE | Vice President, Transit Practice Leader

Douglas Nauman is an integral member of DHA’s transit program; since joining the firm in 1986. His focus is on the growth of the firm's transit programs. Doug manages and supports the engineering design, construction and program management and oversight for major capital transit systems, transit infrastructure rehabilitation, parking garages, transit vehicle maintenance facilities, aerial structures, bus maintenance facilities and stations.

Doug oversaw the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) $50 million General Architectural and Engineering Services Contract (GAESC) for the critical structural rehabilitation of stations, aerial structures, platforms, tunnels, and parking garages associated with the 106-mile, 86-station metro rail network. He also provided project management services for the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) Norfolk Light Rail project, The Tide, a $23 million, 7.4 mile, 11-station transit system that opened for service in 2011. The project received a Full-Funding Grant Agreement from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and he assisted HRT, the grantee, in complying with FTA guidelines.

Doug is completing his role as program director, leading a team of transit and support professionals providing Project Management Oversight (PMO) services for major capital projects funded by the FTA. For more than 10 years, he has rendered the same services to the FTA for major capital funded transit projects for New York City Transit, New Jersey Transit Corporation, Metro North Railroad, Connecticut Department of Transportation, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, and the Triangle Transit Authority.

Douglas Nauman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Geology. He is a registered professional engineer in Maryland and a registered Geologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
