Delon Hampton & Associates is seeking an experienced Senior Track Engineer to join our team.

The candidate will possess 20+ years of rail industry experience, including 8+ years in track inspection or supervision. They will have expertise in track geometry measurements, defect identification, and maintenance programs, along with proficiency in Maximo (EAM) and SQL. The ideal candidate will be skilled in mentoring staff and communicating technical information effectively, with a strong understanding of track inspection training programs. This role combines fieldwork and oversight to ensure safety and performance standards are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure track inspections and inspection reports meet the requirements of relevant track maintenance and inspection standards, and be capable of mentoring and training personnel on inspection and maintenance systems of record, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Assist the management team with the development of inspection plans and schedules to ensure compliance with established track maintenance manuals.
  • Support project management in developing cost-benefit analyses for new projects, and assess cost and schedule impacts of potential changes or change orders to ongoing projects.
  • Perform site visits and quality checks of track inspectors to ensure adherence to established procedures and standards.
  • Comply with relevant roadway worker protection and safety/operating rules in the discharge of field duties.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 20 years in the rail industry, with at least 8 years of experience in track inspection, foreman, or supervisory roles.
  • A minimum of 10 years inspecting or working on a FRA Class 4 railroad or higher.
  • Ability to perform track geometry measurements (gauge, cross level, alignment) and assess track conditions to identify defects according to track maintenance and inspection standards.
  • Experience in writing, presenting, and communicating technical information to diverse audiences effectively.
  • Superuser level proficiency with Maximo (Enterprise Asset Management - EAM) systems, including SQL development skills for supporting background query development to enhance performance measurement activities.
  • Extensive track inspection experience, including data collection, analysis, and monitoring of inspection results.
  • Ability to coordinate with IT staff to support system integration activities related to track inspection data recording and compliance.
  • Experience developing and implementing job plans and preventive maintenance programs within EAM systems based on business requirements.
  • Knowledge of existing systems used to record and report on track inspections and defects, including Optram and MaxTrax (mobile and desktop versions) specific to track and structures asset reporting.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level proficiency with Maximo, especially in the track and structure business plans and processes.
  • Experience supporting the development of performance measurement tools using systems like Cognos, Maximo, MaxTrax, and Optram to generate key performance measures for track inspection and maintenance.
  • A strong understanding of track inspection training programs, including On-the-Job Training (OJT) modules, and web-based systems used to support reporting and performance tracking at an administrator level.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field. Field work may be required up to 50% of the time and may involve exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed. The office environment will be primarily sedentary, but some standing and walking may be required.
